Elements Kitchen - Pasadena

a hot breeze swept through my window. after staying up until 3am to watch Star Trek opening night...I naturally woke up at noon. Hmm...not another final to study for until 4 days later. An outdoor 2 hour lunch was long overdue.

My lunch partner and I headed down Fair Oaks looking for a cute brick building with some yellow umbrellas over outdoor seating. Spotted. We parked and walked over to an open table lined with gleaming white tablecloth and a vase of fresh flowers. When's the last time I've seen fresh flowers at a lunch spot...hmm.

Our cheery waitress stop to give us our menus...so many choices...all sounding divine. Their menu (which changes) this trip was choked with fresh and eclectic choices.

We got:

Curry Chicken Sandwich

With dried cranberries, toasted cashews, and Madras curry on our house foccacia roll

MAC N’CHEESE with Bacon

Hibiscus and lemon punch and Hibiscus tea

And a special grilled prawn salad.

Food for 2. fatties.

A super cute, healthy place perfect for warm lazy days minus the guilt. Service was a tad slow but it almost seemed pre-meditated. Not a place to come if you're in a rush. But a definite spot if you want lunch to catch up with friends. The servings were pretty generous and very flavorful. We had leftovers to take home for the next day. Its a block away from Old Town so always nice to walk off the lunch with some retail therapy.

Their brunch menu (saturday and sunday) seems awesome too... might have to make my way back.
